Waterways Ireland triAthlone

Run Info

Our most exciting part of the race is our run route. The narrow town centre streets of Old-Athlone’s “West-Bank” plays host to the event once again. This has never been more the case than in 2014, where the West-Bank will also host an amazing new Finish Arena.

A further change has been the introduction of a single lop for the run route – no more laps, no more counting how many to go – which has always been a challenge in previous years!

The run route starts when you exit Transition into St. Peter’s Square, past Athlone’s historical Castle, up Bastion Street, down to Parnell Square, toward the turnaround on the Clonown Road, before returning to the West-Bank where the Finish Area and Recuperation is located in the shadow of the stunning Athlone Castle.

This route will create a fantastic atmosphere and we have lots of exciting plans for the Finish Arena which will include All-Day Entertainment, Music & lots, lots more…..
